Dr.Tom Funnell

OPTOMETRIST

Tom enjoys helping people of all ages with their vision care needs. He has special interests in the fields of contact lens, aging vision, progressive and computer lenses, and refractive surgery co-management.

Eye care emergencies always are priority number one for our team no matter what the time of day or night. Dr Funnell is licensed to diagnose and to prescribe medication to treat many eye diseases.

Tom received his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry from U. C. Berkeley. His research in cornea physiology with extended wear contact lenses won a national award. He has been in practice for about 20 years and was Staff Optometrist for Dr. McKinzie. We had 10 years at the Buenaventura Mall and Tom was a founding partner of a Ventura Optometric group, before leaving that group in 1999.

Tom’s great wife, Carol Simmons, and two sons, Colin and Evan, are active in the community, schools, church, and outdoor life. He enjoys visiting, golf, skiing, cooking, and hearing how your family is doing. I’m looking forward to seeing you for personal vision care.

Betty Sterritte

OPTICIAN ABOC

Betty loves to find just the right glasses for you and your special needs. Her great diversity of skills helps you find creative solutions to your vision requirements. She has been a licensed Optician since 1989 and has a great sense of style and taste.

Betty is also a contact lens wearer, with personal experience to add to her training. She can help you with contact lens questions. She specializes in fitting patients with color contacts.

Betty enjoys her family time with husband, Tom, and daughters Rashida, and Lolita. She is a gifted flautist and singer with the band Nuestro. You will love to hear them play! She enjoys mountain biking and practicing Yoga.

Moe Van Huss

OPTICIAN ABOC

Moe’s goal is to help you have the best glasses you’ve ever had. He’s a licensed Optician with three decades of experience working in all facets of the optical industry, giving him the knowledge to assist you with the myriad of frame & lens choices available today.

Moe’s amazingly skillful way with adjustments and lens knowledge impressed Dr. Funnell when they worked together in the past. We are proud to have Moe back with the team.

Moe has a wonderful family with his wife, Margo, and daughter, Emma. He is active in California Historic Site preservation as a leader in the service group E Clampus Vitus. Moe enjoys movies, quantum electro-dynamics and being the resident Webmeister. You’ll enjoy having Moe help you! So, remember:

Elly Becker

OFFICE MANAGER

Elly is looking forward to seeing you. Her years of helping patients in a great many ways prepares her to help you with your special vision care questions.

Elly always has a cheerful greeting and a kind word for those with a problem. She likes to find ways for us to help. She can advise you about your vision insurance and help resolve insurance questions. Finding a way for you to have safe, comfortable and personally pleasing vision is her goal.

Elly has a wonderful way of helping our contact lens wearers learn about proper lens care and handling. Her patience comes in handy when learning to put on that new contact lens.

Elly worked with Dr. Funnell for many years at the Buenaventura Mall. Many of our old friends will enjoy seeing her again.

Elly, her husband, Ed, and daughter, Angie are enjoying their new home here in Ventura. There is a special spot in Elly’s heart for young children. She enjoys their special gifts. She will love to see you and hear how you and your family have been.
